PV subs?

I was wondering... I'm playing around with (soft)subs for the Arashi PVs right now.

Well, currently only romanji and no translations because I haven't come off my lazy bum found them yet, so these are more for karaoke purposes. Or, uh, something like that. XD

Anyway!

Would there be any interest here if I were to upload the PVs with their subtitles? I will eventually try to hunt down the translations and (make an attempt to) sub those as well, which can also be uploaded if people make their interest known.

Uhm, please be aware, though, that I have only Very Recently found the subbing program - that means that it will not have any of the fancy karaoke texts as you see in most anime or dorama OP/EDs, but just plain lyrics. ^^;

(Currently, I have created subs for A.RA.SHI, Sunrise Nippon and Sakura Sake. I'm working on A Day in our Life, but the song is being a biatch. Two distinct voices weaving through one another, just like A.RA.SHI... I love the way it sounds, but subbing it is an entirely different matter! ><)

[Edit to clarify] The subtitles are in a seperate .srt file, just to be clear. They're not hardcoded, so if you prefer to watch the PV without subtitles, this will still be possible. ^^

i usually subtitle the videos of the songs I translate (at my translation journal [livejournal.com profile] japanda_lations with the romaji and my translation. I'd like to do really good karaoke type versions. Does anyone know where to get a program that does that, ahha.

when you say hunt down translations, you mean find translations by someone else? that would be cool, as long as you get those peoples's permissions of course cause translating is hard work and people should get credit for doing it I think :)

i think it's definitely a worthwhile idea to do cause it's nice to be able to sing along to the video... and the soft subs thing is a good idea cause they can be removed. good luck!

This is an awesome idea! I'd love it if some of the PVs had karaoke on them!

You'll need Substation alpha, virtualdub and TMPGENC to do this type of subbing..yes it syllabetic, so expect to invest time, It took me around 10 hours, with lyrics romanization, translating, timing and encoding...Ganbatte!

I have my own saved settings in TMPGENC, but I can't remember each tweak...Basically make sure your motion search is set to High Quality, which makes the encoding take longer but is well worth it..use Full screen (keep aspect ratio) also...Next time I'm in TMPGENC, I'll make some notes of any other setting tweaks...
