Freestyle

Hey everyone,
I posted before about going to a kinokuniya store to order freestyle but it looks like you can order one online at their website.  I just googled kinokuniya and clicked onto their home page.  I don't read Japanese or anything but if you type Freestyle into the search box and click on the first entry, it's Ohno's book.  From there, you can have it delivered/shipped to you from the Los Angeles store I think.

I could be wrong because I don't know what it says.  So sorry!  But it's $25.20 not including tax and shipping.  Just keeping a look out for those who want it...

I wish that were true...

To my knowledge (and believe me, I have tried looking), the book is sold out everywhere. Every website online (HMV, Tower, Tsutaya, Kinokuniya) all say it can't be ordered. I went to 4 different bookstores (here in Japan) on the day it was released too, and no luck. Sigh.... It's either a lost cause, or they are just waiting for more to be released from the publisher.

I just read what I wrote and I sound like a real downer. :( I appologize. I hope that you are able to get yours if you've already ordered it!

Haha, no that's totally cool! I live in Kashiwa city, in Chiba prefecture. It's a 30min train train to Ueno, about 50mins to Shibuya/Shinjuku aka the cool places. Where are you going to be staying? Do you know? I actually haven't gone that many places in Tokyo yet; its close (enough) but still relatively expensive to go (about 1300yen ~13$ return).

I'm bummed about not being able to find Freestyle (yet) but I guess I should be thankful that I can go to the show in person. I'm just hoping that JE isn't a total dick and does a reprinting. I have this thought in my head that they were only doing 130,000 copies, but I don't know where I got that from. Maybe there will be books at the show for sale. If they allow photography (and I get my camera back from the shop) I'll be happy enough. :)

Good luck! I'm sure it'll be wonderfully fun. I browsed your blog a bit last night, and don't worry too much about the language barrier. It's easier said than done, I know, but I knew next to know Japanese (except from watching dramas and a tiny bit of kana study) when I got here and I actually didn't find it too difficult. The train system at least has a lot of English. My situation is a bit different since I speak Chinese so I can read (or understand at least) kanji, but even still. Pointing does wonders.

If you have any questions or anything about coming, feel free to let me know! I only came here in August, barely past my 6 month mark, so things are still fresh in my head. And I'm experiencing new trials on a daily basis. :)

I'm working as an assistant language teacher (I was with Nova but they went bankrupt, if you know anything about it) in a Junior High School. JH isn't that bad. I'm working as an assistant language teacher (I was with Nova but they went bankrupt, if you know anything about it) in a Junior High School. JH isn't that bad. The worst kids do here is sleep in class or write notes. But its probably much different in high school, Im sure it is. I wouldn’t be surprised though if university was the same as the rest of the school system: input, input, input. I don’t know what you’re used to because you’re in science, but my school was very much about small discussion groups and presentations and a lot of independent thinking. But I will ask my friend who is at Tokyo University if you like and give you some insider info. :)

Did you check today? I ordered it from YesAsia too and I had the same message forever, "Searching for Suppliers" but today they sent an email saying that it will be shipped out on the 25th of Feb (which means I won't receive it till appx mid-March) but don't lose hope, check your email and hopefully you'll get it soon! ^_^ Better late than never.
