[identity profile] osak.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] arashi_off

Hello everyone, only my second post in the community. XD Though trying my best to provide back. I'll post some icons and banners soon.

Okay, here is my question... I have wanted to buy Arashi merchandise, such as CDs and DVDs, for quite some time now. My only thing is the fear of buying something and I don't have the ability to play it. Well, I live in the U.S. and I am aware of the Region Codes for the U.S. and Japan are different. I don't believe I have a DVD player that supports All Regions. Would it be possible to play it on my computer? What about if I have a North American (U.S.) PS3?

Oh and one more thing. I was wondering if Arashi ever performed Sketch Live? And if so, does anyone know where I can watch/download the performance?

I would really appreciate some enlightenment on my questions and thank you for you time. ^^

You can just buy a dvd player that plays all regions. I bought mine from amazon for an amazing price and it's even a major brand. Toshiba btw.

You can play the DVD on your "desktop" computer. On your notebook computer, you have to be careful with how many times you can change the settings. I didn't so now notebook can only play Japanese dvd >.<

Ano you can also buy a dvd player that plays all region to. Yesasia have them. I got mine at Best Buy for $20, it's not brand name but it plays everything, unlike my parent's Sony dvd player which cost a lot more :P

I have a Toshiba laptop and it plays japanese and american dvds alike.
And I have to disagree w/ cky_ash. They can be played with windows media player. Or at least my WMP can play the AAA+dome con and N.E.W.S dvd fine...

hope that helps.

I know you can buy Action Replay Max for the Ps2 and it has a feature that allows you to play DVDs from all regions on your PS2. I'm not sure if they have it for PS3 as well or not though.

there is a program called DVD43 just google and install it. It will unlock the region settings without having to change a thing.

For some DVD players you can unlock "All Regions" however, it doesn't work with all DVD players. My friend has done it to hers, so she now watches all of her JE stuff on there, but for any of the DVD players in my home, it doesn't work. I'd need a cable or something to do it, and for the others there is no information on them.
Usually if you google it, there will be 'codes' you can do to unlock your player (Something like; press enter, menu, left, and play, then turn off your DVD player, then it is region free.)
You just need to know what kind of player you have and google it to find the code.

Yeah my computer limits the times I play my Arashi's DVD too. Darn that thing! I bought my Philips DVP5140 on Amazon for $43 (free shipping), then you change the region code to "0" SUPER EASILY by using the remote control. I didnt want to buy a unknown brand coz what if it doesnt work? With well-known brands, you can always return it. You know...

1. Computer is fine, just use VLC player but maybe if you want it on TV screen (you can do that from computer too by using s-video cable. :P Personally what I do because PS2 has shitty sound quality. Dont know about PS3.):

2. PS2 you can buy region x (which is basically memory card and CD/DVD ) and it changes the region code to whatever you want. I got that too and it's useful and it really cost nothing.

3. For dvd players you should google the model and to find what to do with it. Some you can make region free with just pressing buttons and some you have to download new firmware for the machine but I wouldn't really suggest on doing that if you don't know what you are doing. :p It destroys the warranty or it might even destroy the whole dvd player.
