Hello, all :D I'm a new member, but I think this is a legit post:

I wanted to buy the AAA Limited Edition DVD, and I noticed there are two version available on YesAsia.com - the Hong Kong version and the Japanese version. Other than the fact that they are different region DVDs and that one is lighter than the other, I don't see a major difference between the two. However, the price gap is over $30. Does anyone know why? Obviously, I would like to purchase the Hong Kong version because it eats up less of my wallet (and has subtitles I'd understand), but I don't want to rush into a purchase without checking it out first.

Thank you all for your feedback! :D I've decided to hold out on getting the DVDs until I see if I can go to Japan this summer and see the AAA DVD for myself XD;

I believe the 'Hong Kong versions' are just straight out bootleg copies of the original Japanese versions so that's why they're cheaper and whatever money you pay for it, none of it goes back to Arashi. And because the HK ones are copies, the Japanese versions would be better quality, though someone might not really notice.

I don't understand the rationale, but the overseas versions are always cheaper than the Japanese versions. It is released later and has subtitles. Good for fans who can read Traditional Chinese.

The Hong Kong and Korean versions are overseas versions, and as such, completely legit. Sometimes the Korean versions have something special just for Korean fans, or the song names are written in the respective languages. It's just that I do not think they contribute to volume of sales as reflected on the Oricon charts.

The Hong Kong version that yesasia is selling is actually distributed by Avex Trax and thus is definitely not a bootleg version.

I think the reason why overseas editions are cheaper is because Japanese products are generally more expensive, even when sold within Japan itself. The overseas editions are manufactured, well, overseas, and therefore cheaper.

Definitely get the HK version if you don't understand Japanese and can understand the traditional chinese subtitles! :)

If you look at the product info, the 2 items you linked don't have the same weight or shipment unit. So maybe there's some difference in the packaging between the 2 versions as well.
