I'm at my wits end and I'm hoping my fellow Arashi fans can help me out here!

I recently got married and am thinking about the best way to introduce my husband to my Arashi obsession. He kinda had an idea about it before we got married, but I haven't really shown him any of their stuff just yet. Since Arashi is a big part of my life (lol) I'd like for him to know what they are about, and hopefully in time, get him to watch them with me!

I'm looking for a clip that I can show him that really captures the essence of who Arashi is... so something really funny, something which shows their baka side. I've thought about scenes from AnS, Odoroki or classic A or G no Arashi, but I'm having trouble pinpointing a really good intro clip.

Any suggestions of what clip would be a good "first look" at Arashi? Thanks in advance!

Kitto Daijoubu PV. XD

(Not kidding, that's what I first showed my boyfriend. It honestly embodies the spirit of Arashi, IMO.)

i think it should be their 24hour terebi clips first. then later you can tell him that their actually in a band, and you can watch ans and other shows together :)

I always show to my friends the "teach me arashi" series on AnS.
The one in which they have to help someone that asks for advices, like this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emwex5QATro

I find these clips hilarious^^

Then, theproudpenguin here

I think D No Arashi would be a great way to get him into them! It's a funny and interesting show. I can totally imagine guys getting into their humour. Stuff like when they went on an island to search for mannequins, or the abandoned theme park (especially where Ohno tastes the 12 year old cola!!), ate giant versions of food....oh and any A NO ARASHI would be good. I think the silly stuff that they investigated ....well anyone would be curious about!

Youtube clips would be the way to go! That's how I got into them (I couldn't imagine getting into their music before that). Stuff like Aiba's ENGRISH!!!! Arashi singing Arashi blind folded...

I could go on forever! ANS is great too. Like when Oshima (sp?) went on or when Ohno ate a sparrow.

I showed my non liking Arashi-friends at the beginning the horror hous episodes from HnA.
I think that's not bad, a lot crack and fun and no need to know that much about their personalities to understand it.
And maybe some good DnA parts. Like the ones, they were visiting the abandoned themepark? Or the ones with Meguro? Even my mom found those amusing and she has no clue about Arashi.
I'm sorry I'm no help with the exact numbers, but I can't remember those.^^"

Congrats on your wedding and good luck arashifying your husband. :D

These are Himitsu 21 & 23 (haunted episodes)
and D no Arashi 64 (Abandoned theme park) and 107 (abandoned waterpark)

As an afterthought--A no Arashi is often highly entertaining to non-fans--I recommend the -50C freezer ones D no Arashi 83 & 91, or the one at the zoo, #38.

I would go with AnS 12: It has scary food, which I think is universally amusing, as is their reactions, much dorkery, and Shibata Rie tormenting the boys and their hilarious reactions to it. It's a good introduction to the crack and entertainment.

Your other option is to drama-bait him, which I think works more often ^_^ I'd go with YTM, HYD or Maou.

HYD and YTM are what got my husband on board. Now we watch 80% of the subbed stuff together \o/

Ahhhh... I introduced my whole family to Arashi through A no Arashi. I showed them clips of Aiba's experiments and they've liked him/Arashi since then. Now they're watching My Girl and Hana Yori Dango and have been watching some AnS episodes. ^_^ Both my parents know Nino, Aiba and Jun's name and can pick them out from the group. ^^ Try having him listen to Arashi songs as well. When I'm with my parents in the car, I play some Arashi music. My mom loves Love so Sweet and my dad likes Sakura Sake and Hello Goodbye. ^^ Hope this helps!

LOL.. They are pretty awesome ^_^ ever since I was a kid they've always listened to my kind of music and watched my kind of shows. So I was really happy that they like Arashi that they even know their names and watch their shows.

Another answer to the question:
Like petite_ran said, let him watch the haunted hospital/hotel episode of Himitsu. Those are the first few vids that I showed my parents and they laughed so hard they were already crying. ^^

Hmm well I'm thinking you should just pick a clip that you know he'll definitely laugh at.
Or pick a PV for a song that you know suits his taste in music, as long as it isn't too overwhelming (lol).

I got my sisters into arashi by showing them the first air guitar and mannequin search episodes, and my sister has a hard time getting interested in stuff but she found them hilarious! no money specials are good too. what also got my sisters cracking is the episode of utaban where nakai gets hit by a watermelon and takes out the water guns XD show him a succession of hilarious stuff I'm sure he'll find them amusing!

I never tried to get my family interested in Arashi, but they kept briefly seeing me watch AnS and were reeled in by the good looking food xD
Then they started watching dramas and asked for some recs, and I showed them Maou and RnK. Now we listen to nothing but Arashi CDs in the car.

But my friends (who were much harder to convince) I got through concerts. Time and AAA2008 proved most successful.

But if you asked me what I think would work best, I'd go with some classic DnA episodes. Like 'Leave it alone' experiments and actually, Odoroki no Arashi!! might be a good idea since it's full of o-baka experiments meant for prime time.

Hope I helped some. Good luck with the introductions :)!

My hubby is very supportive of my love for ARASHI and the things that interest him or makes him watch with me are DRAMAS and CONCERTS. He always ask me if they are new ARASHI drama or concert that we can watch :D
BTW he enjoyed watching HnA Bakakoii so you can try that too, good luck!

The paper/carboard boat segment from the first Odoroki special is the first thing I showed my brothers; they loved it and ended up watching all the Odoroki specials.

As someone mentioned before, the Utaban watermelon craziness (http://dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com/26151.html) would also be a hilarious intro (plus it involves all 5 of them).

Your hubby has NO idea that you like them? LMAO. This is so weird! You never fangirl in front of him? XD

I think any AnS that has a funny game will do the job. G no Arashi is a good one too.

Actually I think this post did a pretty good job to sum up why you should love Arashi. But no video in that post though.

The clip from AnS where they stuff their shirts with balloons pretending they are boobs..ahh I can't remember the episode #! But the guest was the girl from Tatta Hitotsu no Koi.. I'll remember it lol. But I think that captures their silliness while being kind of "manly".. you have to ease into the over cheery-ness lol. Good luck!

First, congratualtions on your marriage. :O! And er for your question... xDD tbh I think it depends on whether you think he's the kind of person who needs to be weaned into Arashi or will be the kind of person who sees Kitto Daijoubu and go THIS IS THE MOST EPIC THING SINCE EPIC SAUCE. But if I were going to suggest something... maybe the thing that got you into fandom/got you more interested and then the thing that got you hooked?

I don't think I could marry anyone without them knowing about my love for Arashi. @_@;

I think if you can find something that Arashi has done that he can relate to, he'd probably warm up to them a little more easily. I wouldn't really recommend showing him anything where Arashi is being especially touchy-feely because it can make some guys (and girls) uncomfortable. Are there any Japanese actors/actresses/comedians he likes? If so, you should check to see if any of them have been on Arashi no Shukudai-kun.

If he doesn't speak Japanese then I'd grab something with subtitles, of course. Someone mentioned the Watermelon Utaban...I'd have to agree with that. Even just thinking about it I can't keep myself from cracking up. XD

i think the first sugoku on AnS (not GnA because its kinda old and they were younger than)

i think it was ep 13 of AnS

OR.... one of the ep of VSA. guys like sports and i think your hubby would like that... a winning ep, or at least one of the SP (the latest subbed on was the 3rd SP i think would be best)

My ex totally went for the A no Arashi episodes...come to think of it, my brother too...neither understand japanese, like pop music, and rarely watches tv...but watched the DVD with the best of A and D no Arashi episodes and thought it was funny the things that they "experimented" with.

well, i got into arashi thanks to hanadan, so you could try that ^^
and when i got introduced into arashi, the first thing I watched was the liquid nitrogen experiment (DnA 21 if I'm not wrong). A no Arashi is a great way, and those odoroki SPs too :)And AnS and VS Arashi is a must too :) Or at least VIP Room from HnA or the haunted house ep too ^^

hmmm...when I showed it to my friend, I showed them the baka AND the idol-y side, cuz when they first saw the REAL baka clip, they were really confused like what the heck. So i think odoroki might be good...or the 5X10 all the best clips AND the semi-baka clips of AnS (not aiba sugoroku...yet it might creep people out at first ^_^; )

I would definitely got with d no arashi... I got my 28 year old brother to watch one episode and after it was over he said, "can we watch another one?" and we ended up having a marathon XD I recommend the team matsupi episodes. he really liked those ;D

From: [identity profile] musosuru.livejournal.com
i think i showed my brother the 'cooler' parts of them...like, experiments... He really liked A no Arashi, even if sometimes it was pure crack XDD He really enjoyed watching older Himitsu no Arashi-chan episodes because they were so imformative, all the secrets about stuff we've never really thought of XD (he especially liked episode 8 where they showcased unusual animals ><)Although he hasn't watched them (yet) maybe some D no Arashi? Those were informative too, although kind' boring at times....G no Arashi is good for crack :D

Leave it Alone experiments were good (my brother knows Ohno as 'the guy who eats anything' XDD) and as many have mentioned, the Haunted House epis (but the one with Sho in it XD) Also, my brother said he liked Ni No Arashi XDD (first he got into Gaki no Tsugai and got used to the craziness of Japanese shows and then walked into my room one day, sat down, and watched Himitsu with me...then the next night he asked to see more XDD quite reluctantly, i may add XDD)

Definitely as conceal_ed mentioned, the AnS 48 clip! And also I think the one episode of AnS where Arashi were playing a quiz game with green juice. Aiba's dorkiness, Jun's cool, Ohno's cuteness, Nino's brattiness, and Sho's fail all show up here. ^ ^ Hope that helps.

Congrats on your wedding
I would recommend the Odoroki no Arashis, the first one with the gravity experiments is pretty eye catching.
even my dad enjoys them, and he may be fed up with the johnnys jimusho stuff my sister and i feed him.

On concert grounds i would recommend either AAA2008 or Iza NOW!!, well they are just my favorits

on solo works, to show on record they are not just pretty faces, Iwo jima kara no tegami, for Nino, Maho for Oh-chan and The Quiz Show for Sho.

hope it helps you
and blessings on your life

Hi! Wow, so many suggestions! The odoroki sps would do good :)

Just a friendly advice to you from a sales person: don't push the product (Arashi) onto the customer (your husband). The customer might get annoyed, and that's bad for the product.
Just do whatever you normally do in your everyday life. If you normally watch arashi shows alone in the middle of the night, just keep on doing it, don't hide it from him. Be cool :) Let him come to Arashi on his own. I say this bcos i felt happier uncovering arashi on my own by accidental discoveries.
Generally, succesful sales are accomplished when the customer buys the product thinking that it will benefit him, and bring him joy.
Hope all goes well!

my brothers got to know and accept and kinda like arashi thru the D no Arashi and G no Arashi. Cos it shows the other un-idol-like sides of the boys.

my brothers are still not interested in their musical perfs tho, being guys themselves..

so maybe yeah, u cld try with their shows first. (:

I took a different route - laughed out loud to AnS short youtube videos from his laptop. That warmed him up to Arashi. Then every once in awhile I would call his attention to other hilarious AnS and Tensai short clips. Then I said something like "you know, coincidentally they also sing and dance as a group. Apparently there's this guy they call Johnny who keeps producing boy bands in Japan, similar to that old guy who produced Backstreet Boys and N'sync..." All this took me about 2- 2 1/2 weeks. XD

Eventually I showed him the PV of A Day in Our Life, my fave. (Though I introduce Arashi to my girl friends through Kitto Daijoubu, telling them it's rainbow crack).

Whoops, very long. Let me know how it goes with you. Good luck! :-)
