From the producer, to all of you who are kindly supporting “Arashi Challenge Week”
Yesterday, I watched the video of the final episode of “Mayonaka no Arashi” which has been sleeping in Nihon TV’s library (footage vault).
At that time I wasn’t in charge of “Mayonaka”, and it must have been a very memorable show for the members, so I wanted to find out what it was all about. I also thought it might give me some ideas for “Arashi Week” as well…
That was the reason I decided to watch it, but also honestly speaking, I was a bit interested in the “changes” that have happened to Arashi’s members.
The idea of this show was that the members would take turns making a trip by bicycle starting from Kyuushuu, and for the finale all of the members (along with Hatori-announcer who was the facilitator for the show) would cross the goal together at Souyamisaki, which is the northernmost point of Hokkaido.
Compared to now, at that time, the members, as well as their faces (of course this is obvious) were somehow a bit childish.
(Although, Nino-chan really hasn’t changed much…)
At that time half of the members were still in their teens, so their way of speaking had a much younger feel than now (laughs). It was a bit refreshing to see the difference, but what left an impression on me was that even from this time you could see the member’s friendship, the “kindness” each of them has, and their touching “overflowing emotions”.
Once again I’d like to let everyone know that during “Arashi Week” we will be taking past episodes of Arashi’s “regular 30min Nihon TV shows” out of the vault and showing 7 episodes in late night showings. (In Kanto and select areas, I’m sorry.)
We planed this broadcast for those young fans who don’t know much about Arashi’s past 10 years of history, and those fans who have just recently become interested in Arashi. (To those fans outside the broadcast areas, I’m very sorry. For late night broadcasts each area has different rules and even though we tried the system was too difficult to get these shown everywhere…)
The broadcast time will be in the middle of the night around 3am, so it’s quite late, but I hope you will be able to enjoy seeing some of Arashi’s history!
In “C no Arashi!”, “D no Arashi!”, and “G no Arashi!” there are many slightly silly, but very entertaining masterpieces. We are going to re-broadcast some of these, though we can only show 7 of them.
(By the way, the “C x D x G no Arashi” DVDs which showcase some of Arashi’s silly experiments are on sale now. These DVDs are also very fun~)
In choosing these 7 episodes, we asked for your help in the “Arashi moments I want to see one more time” online questionnaire. We are planning to use your ideas to make our final choice.
Please give us your advice.
From now I’m going to set right into watching episodes of “Mayonaka” and “C,D,G no Arashi”. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of shows that Arashi and Nihon TV have produced these past 10 years, but I’m also a bit excited to start watching them.
There are only 11 days left till “Arashi Challenge Week”. Please continue to lend us your strength! Onegaishimasu!

Date: 2009-10-14 11:37 am (UTC)i hope they'll rerun the GnA episodes where:
1. Sho and Ohno drew similar objects and the members have to match it....the famous Totoro drawing of Sho *lmao* and the reaction of the members to the Monalisa drawings are just priceless!! wahahahaha (was it epi 40+ something?)
2. The male cheerleading episode!! i think it was epi 17 or something. Arashi members took part in the practice session of the all-male cheering squad. i was really laughing so hard in that epi!

Date: 2009-10-14 12:38 pm (UTC)Ohh, you really should watch C,D, and G no Arashi! There are so many great moments :D The DVDs are pretty good, but not long enough in my opinion, hehe. There are so many more things they could have included. Anyway, maybe start with the episodes that they air during Challenge Week, as those will probably be some pretty good ones. Then move on from there : ) I definitely recommend watching them, you wont be disapointed xD

Date: 2009-10-14 12:41 pm (UTC)thanks for telling me! I will get all of them as I have more bandwith next month! I've been trying to catch up with the dramas this month and well it took almost all of my bandwith... it sucks to only have 24GB/month D: I want unlimited! Anyway, they're all subbed by taijiproject anyway so it's easy to find~ XD
I WILL DEFINITELY WATCH THEM THOUGH!

i really want to see those epic aiba suguroku in gna <3 i think there it is the most epic *__* especially the first one (or was it the second?xD)
i really miss stockings now ;_;
and for D no arashi these Ni no Arashi episodes would be great <3 and the backward things xD and of course matsujuns + ninos tv channel sell thing xD

no subject
Date: 2009-10-15 08:22 am (UTC)Aiba sugoroku is great isn't it! But you're right, the more recent ones are less epic, hehe. Though I love how they try to change it up with costumes and stuff, hehe. My favorite was Nino's cowboy costume, lol, I don't know why but he just made a really good cowboy, hehe :D
And hearing about the producer going through all the old episodes makes me want to go back and watch them as well! But I think I'll try to wait for challenge week to see which ones they pick XD

Date: 2009-10-15 05:37 pm (UTC)YES. I feel like I'm never going to run out of Arashi episodes to catch up on. I've watched so many & yet it still feels like I've barely covered enough ground orz
It's sweet how the staff members love & adore Arashi as well! I guess they're too lovable to resist ;P Thanks for your translation, as always! <3
