An update from MediumAtLarge on the Yatterman, Miike, and Sho events. I think by now, it is official Sho will not be signing autographs...but will be at the events! :)

Meet Yatterman Star Sho Sakurai
2:45 PM, Friday, February 6, Yatterman / Nikkatsu Booth (#1315) (Jacob Javits Center)
Star of Yatterman and Japan’s top pop idol Sho Sakurai makes a rare personal appearance for his fans, many of whom have come from very far away to see him. Stop by the booth to hear his personal greeting to his fans and to get a glimpse at one of Japan’s top stars. (Please note that Sakurai’s time will be limited and that his appearance is subject to change or cancellation for security reasons. All photography and video recording of Sakurai is strictly prohibited, and he is unable to sign autographs at this time.)

Get a glimpse of Yatterman all weekend long at the Nikkatsu booth on the New York Comic Con show floor. Additionally, on Friday, February 6, tickets for that night’s 8:00 pm World Premiere screening of Yatterman will be distributed free to fans beginning promptly at 3:00 — ask a booth staff member for your ticket. (Ticket numbers are limited and do not guarantee movie admission.)

Fans have been waiting for Takashi Miike to create a giant robot movie for years, and finally it’s here! Takashi Miike will premiere the first nine minutes of Yatterman for the first time anywhere in the world at NYCC's Yatterman panel and then speak about the film and take questions from fans in a panel moderated by Subway Cinema.

Following the Yatterman panel, director Takashi Miike will be signing autographs for fans for a limited time. Sakurai will not be signing autographs at NYCC.

8:00 PM, Friday, February 6, Directors Guild Theater (110 West 57th Street)
This is it! The first time the brand-new, live-action, Japanese feature film Yatterman is screened anywhere in the world, and New York Comic Con, Subway Cinema, and Nikkatsu are all thrilled to open this event to fans. Free tickets to the Yatterman premiere will be distributed to fans on Friday, February 6 at the Nikkatsu booth (#1315), starting at 3:00 pm. Takashi Miike and Sho Sakurai will both be present at this special event. Please note, though, that Sakurai's appearance is subject to change or cancellation for security reasons. Tickets are subject to limited availability and access to the cinema is on a strictly first-come, first-served basis; arrive early to guarantee your seat. Note that no cameras or recording devices will be allowed inside the DGA Theater.

New York Comic Con is excited to welcome Miike, Sakurai, and Yatterman to New York. We know plans have changed since our original announcement, and we hope fans understand the reason for these changes. Not present in New York Comic Con's revised Yatterman plans are Sho Sakurai's autographing signing and a second screening of Yatterman, originally scheduled for Saturday night. Both of these events have been canceled due to security concerns. We know fans have been clamoring for more information and more access to Sakurai, and NYCC has been working with all our partners to make this a possibility, but there are some security issues we cannot get around, and as such, we have to announce this revised schedule.

I'm from the NYC metro area - so just making my over to the convention cetner that day.
I actually don't have a ticket for the premiere, so hoping to get one that day LOL ;-( Really hoping it happens!! But I have a ticket for the convention, itself.

Are you driving/flying? Do you have a premiere ticket already?

Bought it today actually (actually I'm having someone by them for me, so still waitiing to hear back)...
But tomorrow (Thursday) from about 12:30pm - 4:00pm, they're allowing ppl to pick up their badges, so that you don't have to wait on line on Friday to do so.

I don't think the con tickets sell out, so you should be ok there. If you live in the city - you can purchase online, then maybe pick it up tomorrow afternoon if u can finnagle skipping work for a couple of hours ;-) Then you're all set.

I'm totally up for meeting! Want my email addy? Maybe we can talk through that to figure out where and what time to meet?

I'll be taking the M42 bus to get to the Jacob Javits. It's actually pretty close to where I work so I'll probably stop by my office earlier Friday morning to pass time until noon.

I bought the ticket online so I'm guessing I'll have to exchange the printed confirmation for a pass at the front desk.

I live really close to the city, so I'm hopping on the path and making my over to the convention center that day.

Hey, if you work in the city an close to the con center -> Tomorrow (Thursday) from about 12:30pm - 4:00pm, they're allowing ppl to pick up their badges, so that you don't have to wait on line on Friday to do so... maybe you can swing by during lunchtime or something. Might save you time on Friday morning.

I don't have tickets for the premiere, so I'm hoping to stand in line and get them from the booth. Do you already have them?

I was thinking of getting to the convention center around 11:30 or maybe noon. If you'll also be there at noon, we should meet up !

This is awesome news! I didn't even know that we could pick up on badges Thursday. This totally saves me from worrying about the hectic bustling that's bound to happen come Friday. Thanks for the info! :)

I also didn't get tickets to the premiere so I'm hoping I could be another one of those lucky people who can get a free ticket from the booth.

According to a comment left by Peter Tatara (at MediumAtLarge), you can go to retail stores such as Midtown Comics and Forbidden Planet and buy Weekend, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday passes to the convention.

As for buying tickets at the door, I'm not sure about that. I'll double check at the NYCC and get back to you on that if I find out.

Up until this morning, I had taken Friday off. But when I found out that we couldn't get int until 1 PM, I told my boss I'd go in for half a day. I was thinking of getting off around 11:30 am and get to Jacob Javits by 11:45 (noon if there's traffic).

Are you and shama129 going with anyone else? I mean aside for the meeting up part...because I'm attending the convention by myself (my friends aren't into Johnny's ^^;;)

Ahh, my bro is actually picking up passes from one of those places instead of purchasing online (easier we thought).

I'm not 100% sure about the door, but I can try to find out also.

I don't work close to the city and didn't feel like workiung remotely, so I took the whole day off, but I need to take the path and make my way into the city by 11:30 anyway.

I convinced a friend to come with me (she;s not into Johnny's but I didn't want to go alone LOL)! Shama129 replied saying she's not 100% sure she's going I think.

If you're attending by yourself, let's definitely meet up - you, my friend, shama129 (if she attends) can stick together (we all need premiere tixx anyway). That way you don't have to attend alone ;-)

FYI, got the tickets (from a retail store - Jim Hanley's Universe), but the store assocaites said we'd still need to get in line on Friday to get the actual badges.
I can't go tomorrow to pick up the badges either, so I'll have to do so Friday morning.

actually i just found out five minutes ago that sho was even comin to this xD so its kind alike last minute. i dont even have tickets to the con. im only goin cuz of him. so i still have to buy a ticket. i was wonderin if u can buy tickets at the door? do u know?

Actually, I'm not 100% sure if you can buy at the door. I *think* you can, but you'd have to wait in line, and that can be a hassle.
You can buy them online (http://www.nycomiccon), and then, you can exchange that printed pass for your convention badge on Friday morning.
Also, they're letting ppl pick up their badges Thursday (exchange your printed pass for your badge) instead of doing so Friday morning.

Yes, let's meet up! I already took the day off from work, so I don't need to go to work.

He's a definite for the premiere, but I don't have tickets for that, so it's a 50/50 we'll get them.

I would think you can buy them at the door - I can ask someone who went last year and let you know though later tonight.

You dont think Sho asked to not do autographs, do you? It feels sad if he did, like he didn't care, but I'm hoping it was the event's policy or something, and that he didn't have a choice, and that he'd LOVE to if only he could . . .

I'd be more than willing to bet that it was JE that made the decision, because JE has never been known to do autograph sessions that I've heard of. In fact, I'm pretty sure JE boys aren't allowed to give out autographs at all, except for the sign boards and those plastic balls that they throw out into the audicence during concerts.

Have you seen the AAA dvd? I bet it'll be one of those things where he'll memorize a short statement in English, although I bet his accent will not be great. XD

He might memorize something but he wouldn't have to try hard to get it to come out in english. He's fluent in the language so there shouldn't be a problem...let's hope.
I knew that when they posted saying that he was going to be doing autographs that it was too good to be true. JE never lets their idols do that. It was a nice thought for a little while.

He doesn't. I used that as an example because in the Jet Storm tour at the beginning, when they held the press conferences in the different countries, at each place one of the members would have a short speech memorized in whatever language. Like, Jun spoke briefly in Chinese when they were in Taiwan, someone else spoke Korean when they were in Seoul, etc.

I am so excited for you to be able to go! I wonder if the previous statement about autographs was made before the con realized that JE is a nazi organization that would never, ever allow such a thing. Not surprising about the pictures/videotaping rule either. Again, JE = nazis. Alas.

Anyway, I can't wait to her people's reports about the event! Somehow, even though I don't get to go, I'm still excited. I really want Sho to come back to Japan and be like I DID NOT KNOW ARASHI HAD THIS MANY FANS IN AMERICA. That would be the best thing ever, yes? ♥

I'm sorry about the autographs Amber...I was really hoping to get them for you and Tiff. :( and yes, JE management is totally anal about their "merchandise", nothing's free. JE = nazis, AGREED!

It sucks even more that now I can't even have a personal picture of Sho. :(

Guess what? I just went to pick up my pass at the Jacob Javits Center and got back now during lunch and took pictures of the place. It looks really empty now (guess the people are still setting up).
