Hi Everyone,

I was wondering for those in the Official Arashi Fan Club associated with Johnny's Entertainment, how much time it took for their application to go through?

Why I ask is that I would like to go to a concert this year but was told that without joining the Fan Club, it's pretty close to impossible to obtain tickets.
I was thinking of joining the Fan Club now to get tickets for this year's summer concert but was told that their application process is quite long and that even if I join in January, it would not be enough time to be officially registered as a Club member in time to order tickets for this year.

Is this true?

My apologies if this is not the place for this question!
But if anyone can provide some insight into the Fan Club or ticketing process, I would appreciate it very very much!

Thanks again in advance.

Took me about a month, but it can take more or less time depending on how many applications need to processed. It isn't impossible to get tickets without a membership, though. They'll just be expensive since it's Arashi, after all.

more expensive compared to being a member ?

You'll never get tickets for as low as the original ticket price is if you happen to hit for them D: I meant more expensive than resold tickets of other groups.

I think someone else will come along with a helpful link to details on how to apply and how long it'll take to be a member.

First of all, I'm assuming you're in Japan, staying there for an extended period of time, or have a very nice Japanese friend? You have to have a Japanese address to be able to apply for the fanclub.

To answer your question, it is possible to obtain their concert tickets even if you're not an FC member; they just offer the tickets first to the FC members so they get prime seats before the non-FC members can even buy them. It is only to be in the audience for Arashi's television shows that you really need FC membership for.

Can I just point out, Johnny's concert tickets are all the same price, and it is only by luck whether you get good seats or bad seats, since they allocate you seats. And if you are not an FC member, it now seems virtually impossible to buy concert tickets for Arashi at the usual price as they are so popular. Even many FC people couldn't get tickets for the last kokuritsukyougijou AAA 2008. (Hence the large crowd standing outside the stadium that day, trying to listen to the concert!)
However, this will also depend on where they do the concerts. I hear that the Sapporo Dome tickets were fairly easy to get and that you could buy them on the day? (but i may be mistaken.)
I have tried to go V6 concerts as non-FC member, and the places I looked were yahoo japan auction, and little ticket shops in japan, although at both of them the ticket prices are likely to be more expensive than the official price. There may be other routes to get concert tickets, but these are the ones i knew.

You know, I'm really, really afraid of that. I was planning on attending a concert this year but I don't know if that's possible now esp since it's their anniversary year. I'll probably have better chance much, much later and not for a Tokyo concert.

If you join now you will definitely be all registered in plenty of time to ballot for summer concerts. They usually even allow people to still join and ballot even after they release the concert dates.

Unfortunately for Tokyo shows (even Tokyo Dome) being in the FC doesn't guarantee tickets, especially Arashi tickets are very hard to get. Good luck in joining!

There's no guarantee that FC members will get tickets since demand outstrips supply. Hence auction sites are a good way to go however the prices are high.

That said, there are loads of ticket scalps outside concert venues but they always ask for many times the original ticket prices (last resort). So start saving now!

Either way, going to a concert in Japan isnt cheap...and the yen being so high now, its almost impossible to consider at this point. Dont forget you also have to set aside $$$ to buy those tempting con goods! Good luck on joining! ^^

Other than what have been said above, if you can travel around in Japan, it is much easier to hit for tickets for venues outside of Tokyo or Osaka (and venues outside are also smaller in comparison).

And there is also the higher possibility of it being cheaper than cost-price too like in the case of Sapporo Dome last year, tickets were still available on the day itself.

But if you are intending to go for Tokyo or Osaka, be prepared to pay 100xmore if you cannot get through FC or buying off a fellow fan. Even scalpers would be asking to buy your tickets instead of vice versa.

OK When I joined the Arashi fan club last year, I paid through the postal system (which is what they expect - you fill out a certain form from the post office in a certain way and pay at the post office counter), it was definitely within a month that I received the "We are processing your membership" thing. But with that notice I also got a pre-printed postal payment form for the Arashi DAL tour with a note saying "The pay-date has expired but if you pay within three days (I think it was) of receiving this, we will put in you the draw." I thought "How kind of them!" Hence I got tickets to the June Fukuoka concert.

As far as getting tickets to concerts are concerned, a few words of advice. You are more likely to get a ticket if a) you are by yourself, and b) you aim for a concert AWAY from Tokyo and Osaka. Go for a ticket for 1 for Fukuoka, and I think you will have your best chances of getting a ticket.

To answer your question, apply now and you will be in time for a concert. Don't leave it.

If you're 100% serious about this and are spending a decent amount of time in Japan, let me know and I'll talk you through the application process if you need it. Should be able to do it in English letters without too much hassle.

I'm not sure why everyone is under the impression that it's almost impossible to get ticket unless your a fanclub member. That's not really true.
It just take a bit more effort and maybe a tiny bit of luck to get tickets. It will probably also cost more, but if you're determined to go- you can go.

I know this all may be an individual case but it can't be said that I'm the only person with this luck. I agree with an above poster -- it is in no way impossible. The key is working for it. To add, saying you can't get tickets for official FC/Non-FC (Non-FC being the 200 or so Yen higher price than FC tickets but are still affordable for most) price isn't fully true either. I got tickets for Non-FC price, no issue. I just had to look for other sellers though.

To add, I did all correspondence with English-speaking sellers so having a infinite knowledge of Japanese isn't required. Living in Japan isn't required. Being in FC isn't required. In all honesty, determination and some serious greenbacks is the main deal.

There are websites that sell JE tickets readily. http://ticket.co.jp is one -- you just have to use a deputy service (Shopping Mall Japan, Celga, etc) and have them order it for you. So it's pricey. Nevertheless, not impossible. It's one of those, "Do I really want this??" situations and to add -- having money. You can want it but, well you know.

I heard a rumor about the venues checking IDs along with tickets...is that true? Do the tickets even have your name on it? I thought JE is trying to prevent tix resale.

Btw, where would I check for concert dates when they come out?
