Hi,
I have a question.
My aunt said she could buy me the Arashi Is Alive Photobook with the CD.
I was going to ask her to buy it for me, but according to the reviews on the Japanese Amazon page it`s not a really good book.
Has anyone bought the photobook? Please share me your opinions.

I bought it and I really like it >w<
A very good quality book
some pictures are in black and white
and not all the pictures in there are a picture of them
some of them are a picture of the dome itself
but overall, i really like it v(o^__^o)v

I agree with the reviews.... I don't really like the way the pictures was taken... But if you love Arashi, it doesn't hurt to buy the book... That just what I thought though... It still up to you whether to buy it or not... ^^v

I loooove the pictures they featured, however... the person who put the book together was insane. In many of the pictures, the boy(s) are placed in the binding of the book.

The pics themselves are really nice. If only we could see them properly! >[

The book is worth buying just to see the guys, but this book was definitely arranged weird. I'm not sure the quality of the pictures is worth the money I paid for it. You can't see some of the pictures too great because they're positioned weird.

Still, it's Arashi and I support them by buying as much as their stuff as I can.

If you want a good Arashi photobook, I would recommend the last photobook: Arashi Around Asia. The picture quality is better and the binding of the book is well done.

Arashi is Alive isn't worth it except if you collect and want the cd. The binding is through the middle of most of the images and half of them are grainy and unfocused.

My copy is unbound (which due to overgluing took forever and tore a few pages) and in a ziplock bag for easy scanning, and it's the only way to see half of the pictures. :/

Yeah...i bought it.
It's a photobook that i think it's good when compare to the price.
And i can see some point which rare to see.
But one thing, I have no regret to spend money for it.
Good Luck!!!

I dont regret spending money on it! I really like a lot of the photos that were taken, the only downside is that some of the pictures are lined up with the bindng; which makes some of them hard to see.

But, I think it's a fun thing to have for any Arashi fan!

It really very much depending on individuals.
But I will say buy cos it's really a nice book.
Thick (value for money XD) and comes with Re(mark)able!
Pictorial documentary of Arashi on and off stage during their Dome Tour 2008.

Same with the girls who commented,
The only thing I don't like is the binding style, some of the pictures are spread across 2 pages and we can't see what's in the middle e.g. Nino's birthday picture @ Fukuoka(T_T)(T_T)(T_T)

It's the 1st Arashi photobook i bought (new Arashi fan here v(^_^)v) i agree with what everyone's been saying; the way the book was put together can be rather frustrating coz the guys get somewhat lost in the binding :/ but it's worth buying coz it's Arashi! Plus you get the "re(mark)able" CD (which i totally love)

On a different note, i think i'll take what lady_gemma said into consideration and maybe buy AAA next XD

I'm glad I bought it. There are some really great shots in it. However, like others have said, some of the pictures aren't of great quality, and some you can't see well because of the binding. >_< I think it's worth it, but it's not the most amazing thing ever or anything.

I kind of have to say, that the layout of the photos were not that great. some pictures had some of the arashi members in the middle, so they were hard so see cause of the spine. But all the pictures (I have to say) were great! If your an arashi fan, you would like them. Its just some are hard to see than others (In my opinion, Matsu Jun was in the middle a lot so in some pictures, hes hard to see)

It was the first Arashi photobook I personally bought, so of course I have to say I was very impressed with it. <3~

If it will be your first photobook, too, I'm sure you'll be amazed with ANYTHING, no matter which one it is, just because it has Arashi in it. ^_^

There seems to be a general consensus here. :) I thought the book was nice to look at, but the photos /are/ grainy most of the time, and the placement, as aforementioned, is weird. But it's still worth it, IMO, because of Re(mark)able and the candids that they /do/ catch - like the whole "Day in the life" montage. :)

i bought it and i think the quality of the images are not good. It looks the resolution is kinda small.. for me it's not as good as the others arashi's book. a little boring for me because the picture it's not really good. but that's all just my opinion.. seems like some people love it ^^ hopes it help!

The book is RAW. I found that I really liked that about it. It wasn't set up shots - they were simply taken. And some of the non-Arashi photography is really well done too.

When I say raw it brings up another point. The photos of Sho when he'd broken his thumb are really moving. There's this photo which I made a poster out of (http://knightess-silver.deviantart.com/art/Break-a-leg-97546963), and there is a photo of him being carried on the back of a staff member.

I do agree that the binding was badly done but overall I believe it's worth the buy simply because you're seeing Arashi as they are, not as a photographer wants you to see them.

Also, I think that Arashi is Alive is actually a really good representation of the tour - the rehearsals, the behind the scenes, and the concert itself.

If you want pretty Arashi pictures instead, then you're better off with the AAA photobook.

In all honesty though, it'd be worth getting your hands on both, because they're both very different and good in their own way. (I've flipped through AAA a few times, but I can't put A-is-Alive down!)

My review might not be objective, since that was my first time buying their goodies--I'm trying to be fair, though :)

The pictures are, say, middle-quality, and something that quite bothered me a lot, is the binding. I was so careful on flipping the pages (which I didn't complaint before due to over-excitement ♥), and I really had to be extra careful if I wanted to see the whole photos clearly without tearing them off. Which may be difficult, because a little bit more strength, and it would be ripped off :)

But some of the shoots are really worth buying, really ♥

I think it's safe to say that bottom line: If you're looking for an Arashi photobook with crisp clear pictures of the guys and few distractions like weird binding, I would also recommend the AAA photobook before this. Otherwise, if you're okay with the more artsy-indie-"raw" (as [livejournal.com profile] rininjapan stated) type pictures, then Arashi is Alive is definitely worth it, especially with the extra Re(mark)able CD. I personally love it, but that's because I love anything Arashi. Anyway, I would still say to go for it! Support Arashi, yeah! XD

Hmm if you love clear photos, den I think this photobook is not for you.. Kinda a hard book to handle.. HAHA and ya like the rest had mentioned, the binding of the book is simply weird that you can't really some beautiful photos in full *unless you tear it up*! I would prefer the AAA photobook.

but if you are really an Arashi fan, then get this photobook!!!! because arashi fans will love the book no matter what. (:

Actually I liked the book.. It's thick demo.. Compared to Otakara.. I prefer Otakaras better.. I mean.. Here are what I don't like about it is that some images of AMNOS was placed in the bindings.. Demo the book was in good quality.. As an Arashi fan, I would say this book is worth buying.. I love those moving-thingys.. Lolz!

Ano I may be the craziest fangirl of all here coz I have not one but two Arashi Is Alive Photobook!! @_@ And I also have them doing PR for the book its love! If you want I can give you the link ; )

I have one for browsing and listening to Re(mark)able while the other one is for keeps. Its been said before that the binding could've been better as well as the placement of photos which I couldnt agree more.

Demo like rininjapan, I like the raw pics as they arent too polished and we see the boys exactly as they are. To me this is real photography which should capture the essence of its subjects. Yes pics may not be as hi-res as we'd like them to be but I kinda feel that they speak to us. I think the black & white pics are beautiful too.

Bottom line is, go for it and support Arashi! snoopy_247, hope I've cleared some of your doubts. ^^

Ima still waiting for Sho & Aiba's otakaras. LOL cant wait for their new CD its already been preordered. (being a buying fan sure makes my pocket light that much faster...)
