しつれしますけど、今授業でレポートがあります。このレポートのために、日本人の嵐ファンと話したいです。

I'm looking for Japanese Arashi fans in this community who would be willing to answer some questions for me, (about 10 questions in all) for a report I'm writing. Unfortunately, my Japanese isn't quite good enough yet to do an interview in Japanese, so I'll have to write the questions in English. If you are a Japanese fan on this community and would be willing to help me, I'd greatly appreciate it! (And if you'd like to answer in Japanese, my reading is much, much better than my speaking or writing, so I would most likely be able to read your answers. >_< )

I've translated your questions into Japanese as well as your introduction. You may want to ask your questions on actual Japanese sites, which you can find through Google by typing in things in Japanese like 嵐ファン and 嵐好き. If you're not very familiar with the language or Japanese culture, I might suggest that you steer away from asking Japanese fans (mostly for fear of accidentally offending them as young fans can be both shy and quite defensive.)

Alternatively, you could rewrite your questions and gear them towards fans from outside Japan. I know from experience that on LJ alone there are Arashi fans from all over Asia, America, Europe and even some from the Middle East and Russia - all communicating with each other right here in English. It would be interesting to find out why ONE Japanese boy-band (don't shoot me for calling them that because they ARE) has captured hearts around the world. And you'd get the answers to your questions a hell of a lot quicker. If it's a report in Japanese you need, then you could rewrite your findings in Japanese.

Anyway, if you're determined here is the translation. I can't say it's 100% perfect though:

Ahh, thank you for the translation. I was mostly asking here because I only needed a few quotes to add to the report I'm writing, and also I'm a little short on time to do it entirely properly. (I really wish I had the time to go more in depth in my topic, but I'm currently studying abroad in japan, and they're keeping us really busy! ^_^) 　It's a good idea to ask on Japanese fansites, though, and I think I might try that as well. (though I've gotten some very good help here as well!)

日本人じゃないけど、日本語を分かっています。

１）　４年ぐらいの嵐ファンです。ジャニーズのことは、多分１０年ぐらいのファンです。
２）　「サクラ咲け」のPVを見た時に嵐のことが好きになりました。
３）　いいえ。アメリカに住んでいるから、ファンクラブに入らない。

５）　はい、嵐とかNEWSのファンが多いです。
６）　あぁ、それは夢ですよね。私は大学生だから、ちょっとダメです。

hi, i'm a japanese fan living in europe. i'm guessing it'll be quite difficult to find japanese johnny's fans on these communities, unless they are lucky enough (like me) to have non-japanese johnny's fan friends who told them abt these websites.. noone knows these websites in japan unfortunately!

but anyways, 質問にお答えします。

1. How long have you been a fan of Arashi and/or Johnny's Entertainment?

最初にジャニーズファンになったのは小学５年生のときです。ちょうど女の子たちがジャニーズに興味を持ち始める時期ですね。
I became a johnny's fan first when i was in 5th grade, at the same time as when most girls start being interested i guess (well at least back in my days).

2. When did you first start liking Arashi?

デビュー前から松潤ファンなので、かれこれ１２年になります。ちょっと他のグループに気移りした事もありましたけど、嵐をずっと応援してきた事には変わりないです。
I was a matsujun fan before their debut, so it'll be abt 12 years now i guess. i went through a phase when i was more into other groups, but i've always supported arashi.


3. Are you a member of the Official Arashi Fanclub? Are you a member of any other official Johnny's fanclubs?

いいえ。日本に住んでいないので、ファンクラブには入っていません。
no. i don't live in japan so i'm not in their fanclub.

4. What unofficial fan activities to you participate in? (Unofficial translations, fanart, fanfiction, etc.?)

一度翻訳はさせていただきましたが、それだけです...
I've done unofficial translations for people once.. that's abt it.


5. Are or were your classmates also fans of Arashi or Johnny's Entertainment?

仲のいい友達がV6ファンです。
小中学生の頃は、日本の友達ほとんどがジャニーズファンでしたが、今はあまりどっぷりファンをしている友達はほとんどいません。
my very good friend (japanese) is a V6fan. back in elementary/middle school all my japanese friends were johnny's fans, but now that we're fairly old (well not old, just older!) not many of friends are proper fans anymore.. although most do have their johnny's favourites.

6. Have yu ever been to an Arashi or other Johnny's Entertainment concert? If yes, what was the experience like?

はい、キンキ、嵐、V６、SMAPのコンサートにそれぞれ１回ずつ行きました。もう最高でしたよ。
楽しくて、曲をずっと歌ってました。でも、キンキのコンサートとかはもう１２年前の事なので、正直記憶にないです。テンションはすごい上がるけど、席に寄っては本人たちを全然近くに見れないのが難点かな。SMAPとかは超遠かったです。
i went to concerts by 4 different groups. what was the experience like? AMAZING. really fun, and i was singing along constantly. but like forexample the kinki kids concert i went to was more than 12 years ago so i don't really remember it very well. i do get really excited at the concerts, but i guess the downside is that depending on the seat, you don't get to see them close at all. SMAP was reallllly far.

7. Are there any specific reasons you are a fan of Arashi or any other JE groups?

特にこれという理由はないけど、やっぱり、今すごい嵐ファンなのは、嵐の５人がとても仲良くてみていて楽しい事が理由かな。あと、最近の嵐は、曲とか作品とかコンサートの完成度がとても高いし、ファン想いなのもうれしいですよね。
not a very specific reason, but i guess its just because the 5 of them in arashi are so 仲良し and so its so fun to watch them. and recently, all the songs, dramas and concerts etc. that they produce are of very good quality. and plus, they are so nice to the fans!

8. Do your friends or family know you are a fan of Arashi?

友達全員は知らないけど、本当に仲いい友達は知っている人が多いです。家族は知ってます。
my closest friends all know. my family know too.

9. How do you think you, as an Arashi fan, compare to fans of things like Anime or Manga? Would you consider yourself an "otaku" because of being a fan of Arashi or Johnny's Entertainment?

漫画とかアニメのファンとは全然一緒じゃないと思います。でも、オタクという言葉は、最近は“すごくはまっている、詳しい”という意味で使われていると思うので（家電オタクとか、落語オタクとかありますよね）ジャニーズファンもある意味オタクだと思います（あんまり認めたくないけど）。ま、オタク度は人それぞれでしょうけど！
I think we're different from anime or manga fans. but as the word "otaku" nowadays means "very into, very knowledgeable abt something", i think johnny's fans are otaku in a sense too. but the extent of otaku-ness varies between people though.
