If I were Domyouji.
Thank Domyouji for bringing happiness to many. Allowing thousands of girls to have an admired idol.
From a not-so-talked-about Johnny's Idol, he turned into a wanted idol.
The true him, probably is about 70% Domyouji.
Sometimes being stubborn/obstinate/spoilt like a child during the interview, and suddenly asking the reporters smilingly, "If I suddenly screamed and ran out of the photography tent, what would you all do?"
A little clumsy [I can't find a single word to describe this, but its something along the lines of just single-headedly plunging in sort of mindlessly], he once drove a car and acceidentally crashed into the expressway's tollbooth, scaring his friend.
A little anal. Thought to be a crazy Virgo [horoscope; Virgos are thought to be perfectionists, obssessive about details and wanting everything done right] by Arashi group members. Towards things that don't matter to him, he doesn't give a damn at all. The things that he can be anal about are: he'll have 10 types of chinese traditional medicine on hand, when people around him are feeling unwell, he will immediately give the other the medicine; when the dishes on the table are set, he will immediately divide the food into portions and seriously tidy the table. This is how he is serious and the reason why he'll quickly shoot to stardom/great fame once the opportunity arises.
Q: Among the F4 members, Domyouji is the one who attracts most girls, you think that the reason for this is because...
A: *Smiles* Domyouji is a very straight-forward sort of person. He is one-minded/hearted when it comes to everything. Towards Tsuyoshi's feelings, he is also very steady/certain, be it when they quarrel or meet with difficulties, his want and heart to protect her never changes once.
Q: In F4, have you always wanted to play the role of Domyouji?
A: When I first read the manga, I had actually liked Hanazawa Rui better, thinking that he was good-looking and cool, and Domyouji was an annoying guy. After it had been decided that I was to play DOmyouji, and after I got to understand his character more, I discovered that the seemingly simple-minded and "straight" [not his orientation, but straight in his one-directional thinking, that's what it suggests] him, actually hids many things in his heart. He is not someone who can be understood immediately at one glance. So I think he isn't bad.
Q: The director said that the movie is the final installment/shooting of the Hana Yori Dango series. The final time you'll be acting as Domyouji in shooting and production, and the fact that you'll be bidding this character goodbye, what are your thoughts and emotions on this?
A: After having acted as Domyouji three times, he is already existing as some part of me, and is a very important character to me. All that I can do now, I have already done, fully burning for this character [literally translated as such, but he means to having fully brought this character to life], this is a result I am very satisfied with. Having to bid goodbye to F3 soon, I feel a little sad and lonely, but thinking about what work I will have ahead of me, there definitely will be a chance to meet again! I look forward to that day.

Date: 2008-09-02 12:56 pm (UTC)A: I normally read manga, whether it is shoujo or shounen manga, as long as it is interesting, I like reading it all. DUe to my sister's influence in the past, I've read HYD's manga. Then when I got to know that I'd have a chance of shooting HYD, I spent half a day and read all the HYD manga volumes at one shot. While I was shooting, my sister specially called me to tell me that this drama/film would definitely be very popular!
Q: Having shot this drama twice, and this time its going on the big screen, it is still so popular/well-liked. Why do you think everyone loves this series so much?
A: Though the storyline is very far away from reality, but it generally has love as the central theme, and thus it can be watched and understood everywhere around the world. I believe that this movie will be the best work in the HYD series so far.
Q: Would you like to say anything to the Singapore fans?
A: A work with love will have its warmth felt everywhere and by everyone. [I'm very unhappy with my translation of this line, but what it means is that the HYD movie which as love as a main theme will bring warmth to anyone from anywhere.] If you will be watching this movie with a loved one or someone else who is important to you, I will be very happy.
[And the small box at the bottom introduces two of MatsuJun's other works, namely Bambino and Gokusen. Nothing we don't already know.]

Date: 2008-09-02 02:16 pm (UTC)Beginning as a child star, acting in stageplays, receiving strict training in japanese dance, classic ballet and other forms of dance. With much of her time in secret training was spent as a perfect traditional girl, destined to succeed and shine as an idol.
HYDF's movie has a certain scene where a depressed her meets with danger in the forest, her survival instincts kick into action and a single punch sends a secert-bear flying into the air. The humour in the scene masks a faint hidden meaning. A simple and plain girl becomes everyone's loved lead female character. She becomes the knight-in-shining-armour's much-loved female lead, and her undying flame of determination is where her charm/attraction lies.
The lead of the HYD series which began in 2005, Tsukushi, was only 18 years old when she became the season's most talked-about character, and is still very much popular till today.
Her shot to fame wasn't easy. 4 years after stepping into the centre of the acting arena, and having participated in various other dramas like Gakkou ga abunai and ___ [which I can't find on wiki], filmed many commercials, her popularity had only truly shot up after the HYD series.
Q: The movie describes the growth of F4 and Tsukushi after the graduation, but what changes were there off-set/in real-life?
A: While acting, I really carried myself as Tsukushi, she had a profound impact on me. This time as I act Tsukushi again, did I only realize that acting as Tsukushi needed that much strength and will-power. But once I saw my co-stars again, I immediately went back into Tsukushi-mode. [Meaning she got back into character upon seeing her co-stars.]
Q: While filming, the cast went around to many countries. Were your emotions and thoughts while working different as a result of this?
A: The places we went to this time, were places that people aren't normally allowed to shoot/take photographs in, like the Las Vegas casinos, and the fountain outside hotels, which were all very memorable. When we went to Hongkong, we were welcomed by many HYD fans. That sort of great feeling left a lasting impression on me.
Q: Having filmed up till now, what was the most unforgettable thing/scene?
A: Tsukushi's punch. In the drama, many people suffered Tsukushi's punch. But in the end, it was the first filming where Tsukushi punched Domyouji in that one scene, which was particularly memorable.
Q: You are the girl who is closest to F4 in the whole world. How is F4 different from before?
A: There is a lot more realism, and a thicker/fuller feeling of F4 present, it has been Powered Up from before.
Q: If you became someone as rich as Domyouji...
A: Rent Disneyland, and play in it with just myself and no one else. But if I really had that much money, I really wouldn't know what to do with it. Buying clothes would also feel very troublesome. Buying the whole shop down, this sort of shopping would be very pointless and boring.
Q: Would you like to say anything to the Singapore fans?
A: This movie can trespass national boundaries/boundaries between countries, and make people feel very happy. [I'm not sure if she's referring to herself or the audience in this sentence.] A storyline that cannot happen in real life - an exciting story of Cinderella. I hope everyone can go to the cinemas to enjoy the movie personally.

Date: 2008-09-04 02:28 am (UTC)Japan's star of the decade is the brightest new idol.
From the HYD series, the soft [referring to his nature and manner] Hanazawa Rui had as much fame and became as well-known as the lead actor/star MatsuJun.
When he started as an idol at 15 years old, he was but a last-minute replacement actor who didn't really catch anyone's eye. One day when he was with the other stand-in actors waiting outisde in the winter wind frozen to the core, he found that a big-time/famous actor was sitting inside a lavish well-furnished car eating ice-cream [suggests great comfort and well-being]. From that moment on, he was determined that he would one day be the one sitting inside that car in comfort.
In Hana Kimi, he was the quiet and introverted Sano. In HYD, he was the gentle and distant Hanazawa Rui. In the movie ____ [I couldn't find one which fit the chinese name but I'm guessing that its Gokusen], he was the delinquent student, and acted with much violence, proving that he was not just a soft teenager.
2007 was his "best" year [本命年 can't be translated literally because its some chinese tradition where in that year, the person will have either life-changing extreme good luck or bad luck], his fame shot sky-high and swept away all the large awards that could be taken away. He was so successful that he had turned "purple". [adskjldgfkj they keep using all the strange strange colloquial phrases that I can't translated directly; this one is a sort of pun that he was so "red" which means that he was extremely successful, that he was "purple" which means that he had succeeded to such a great extent].
Finally, he had worked his way up to number one.
Q: Having shot HYD again, how did you allow yourself to re-find the feeling of Hanazawa Rui's character?
A: I rewatched the HYD drama series' from the first episode to the end. But it was really disgusting. I was feeling a little surprised, like "Oh, so that's how I'd used to act in the past?!" The Oguri Shun then was like cotton wool [trying to describe himself as soft and raw] and still trying to sharpen/train/improve himself.
Q: The movie is set 4 years after the end of the drama. Did you have to make any sort of adjustments?
A: It actually felt very good. Hanazawa Rui is finally the same age as I am, so I didn't have to pretend to be young/small anymore. *Laughs*
Q: What sort of meaning did the HYD series hold for you?
A: It could be said that it was the beginning of my stardom, I guess. Even though I had always been seriously acting before, haha, but regardless of the audience or myself, Oguri Shun became a star from HYD onwards.
Q: The feeling of filming/shooting abroad...
A: In the Hong Kong airport and the other overseas filming sites were all full surrounded by fans, such that we couldn't even move. There were even people screaming "Oguri, look here!" MatsuJun had even angrily said, "just now you stretched your hand out, you can't do that." Haha. The HYD series is loved by many people from places I can't even think of, its really amazing.

:D:D:D:D
I'm so going to catch HYD Final when it opens here in Singapore!
