I don't really like talking about the scandal... And I apologize for bringing it up but since I live in the Philippines and we don't get that much news, I just want to know, if anyone leaving in Japan can give us an ubiased opinion of what is really going on. Is it really that serious with police involved?!? Is it that serious to the point that Ohno's getting kicked out of JE as some say? How are the other members of Arashi reacting to this comment?

I hope someone will reply.

I don't know if posting this is wrong or not but I just want to know if Ohno and Arashi are doing okay, then that means, we don't have anything to worry about, right? (",)

Hmm.. I'm not from Japan thought, but I think you can get a LOT of information from fybabe's blog:

Not really a direct answer to your question, but this (http://community.livejournal.com/rinwrotehere/2109.html) may give you a little more grasp on how Johnny's handles the serious cases.

I would look through the post that have already been posted on this issue.
There are quite a lot.

If there is something new you can be sure it will be posted.
If there is nothing posted there is nothing new.

This way you don't have to talk about the scandal... you just have to read.
(And I don't get one million posts on my flist... >_>)

err I agree, and I'm currently in Japan right now >.>;; I've gone to the links and some don't quite make sense, despite being in English. I think there's something involving marijuana and maybe some sort of sex scandal, but it seems that either one or both incidents were in the past... i think...?

The arashi_on community has a link in the sidebar that lists all the happenings from the beginning (which was sunday).

Basically it's two girls claiming that Ohno smoked weed (which is a major crime in Japan) and that he later had a threesome with them. They back their story up with four pictures of him and themselves, where he's supposedly high. (He's there with the girls. But he doesn't really look high, he looks like Ohno in a silly mood.) All that apparently happened in summer 2005. Ohno denies everything except that he fooled around with the girls.

And yes, it's an "old" scandal, but it surfaced just now (surprise, surprise, just as Ohno is hitting new heights of popularity) and as far as I can tell, JE have summarily dealt with the company that published the tabloid the scandal appeared in.

The thing that mostly keeps the scandal running now is the fact that KDDI is thinking of cutting Ohno out from the AU commercials, because they got so many hate-mails / complaints from people.

Ohno supposedly denied it himself during the filming of Music Lovers, which won't air for another few weeks and it will probably be cut out. *tries to shovel the wood AWAY from the fire* >_

A music tv show which has guests of a music background come on, talk and perform - like many music shows do.

holy cow it hasn't even been a week??? news travels fast!' But thanks for the summary, this really explains what the hooha is about.

oh boy sex scandals e.e it seriously bugs me (whether it's true or not) because it's like... hi, this just makes the people claiming it look really trashy, advertising this affair like that... what's the point of it all, just to ruin someone's career?

So far, no one in international fandom has mentioned anything about the rest of Arashi. It's likely that they've all been adviced to not say anything and ignore the whole thing until it blows over. I'm pretty sure Ohno also only made his statement because he needed to say something. And at this point, it really doesn't seem as if there would be consequences to anyone but Ohno himself, so the group at least is safe.

(Of course we all hope that the others stand by Ohno. ^-^ And I bet at least Jun and Nino are probably feeling very protective and angry towards the girls at the moment. ^-^)

It's kind of strange - the paper probably was only out to make some fast, dirty money (which they did by going all moral on him and judging him for drug use on the one hand, but placing far more importance on the sex-part on the other hand - which kind of looks like a bit of a confused message to me, but that's the tabloids), but the girls? Apparently the paper claimed that one of the girls was actually a friend of his beforehand - and what kind of friend sells someone out like that? Especially since he didn't do anything BAD to them, nothing in the article even suggested that he was anything but nice to them. (And it's just my interpretation, but the three different article translations / summaries I read all seemed to suggest that the girls had been the driving force behind a lot of the happenings - if they indeed happened - which ...doesn't help their imagine, in my opinion. So yes, why they would make themselves look bad like that, just to bring him down is ...kind of a mystery to me.)

I think that's pretty unlikely. If the information we have at the moment are correct, JE has backed him up by cutting ties with the publishing company that the magazine belongs to - and really, what are they going to freeze him for? Three years after the fact, there's little they can do to prove he actually took drugs, which is the only thing the police would be interested in; nor can they prove that he actually went further with the girls than was shown in those photos (where he was fully dressed and the girls were pretty much too), which would be the only thing that might enrage Japanese fans enough to make JE take action on him.

Besides, with the upcoming tour again, they'd have to be supreme idiots or desperate to suspend him. Imagine Jun having to get through most of his parts in the song without Leader at his side to support him! Even fervent Jun fans would probably wince at that, not to mention Jun himself. XD

Jun's a sweetie, but he can't sing at all. The fans know it, he knows it - even his manager knows it (and made him take his iPod to that Tunnels show, so he wouldn't be completely out of tunes). XD

There's a reason Jun often smiles at Ohno when he finally joins Jun in the songs that Jun has to sing alone at first - beyond the fact that he just loves his Leader very, very much. ;P

"Tunnels no minasan..." and I can't remember the rest of the title. Basically it's a sort of game/contest show with Utaban's Taka-san and his comedy partner (their comedy duo, "Tunnels" was once one of the most famous comedy duos ever), who invite a female and a male guest, who each name four of their favourite foods - except that one of the foods is something they actually hate.
Both contestants take turns eating their dishes and at the end, they both guess which was the dish that the other contestant actually really hated. The one who guesses the correct dish first, wins.

So far, Nino, Sho and Jun have been on the show (can't wait for Ohno, with his iron stomach!) and they either lost or had a draw - and had to do a punishment game at the end. Taka-san being who he is, told them to do the chorus to "A-ra-shi" and, even though they all do it alone, the show editors kindly edit in performances of the other member(s) who had been on the show, so if all Arashi members went on this show and all of them lost, we might get an "A-ra-shi" performanace of the whole of Arashi - recorded over a span of at least half a year. XD It's pretty awesome.

It got subtitled by [livejournal.com profile] taijiprojectsub. (Which you have to join if you aren't already a member.)
